Welcome to Learning Event #1 (#LE1) for #WalkMyWorld 2016. In this journey we’ll think about the story of you…told from past, present, and future. In this storytelling experiment, we’ll jump across multiple modes of information and possibly explore transmedia spaces.
For now, we must reflect on…where I begin?
Take into consideration

We all have different ways of envisioning ourselves. Some of us are valiant self-promoters, while others like to observe from the sidelines. Throughout time, individuals from the stars to the stage hands have considered the focus of their work and audience in life.
In examining works like Song of Myself, we see creators like Walk Whitman positing the bravado and self-promotion that we’ve come to assume from artists like Kanye West.
This examination of self also is evident in how we choose to represent ourselves visually. Stroll through this fascinating gallery of self-portraits provided by artists throughout time. This collection of self-portraits is also incredible.
As we tell the story of ourselves, we must start by considering the visuals we use to represent us. Just for today…think about where do I begin?
Your response
Share a selfie or something that represents you to serve as a visual icon on your journey. This can be a photo, a GIF, an object, a drawing, a meme…whatever representation you choose.
Add this visual representation to a page or post online (preferably on your own site) and in a tweet out to #WalkMyWorld share your content with the community. Please include #LE1 to indicate the learning event, and you may also include a hashtag to recognize your local learning network.
If you share your visual representation, you may choose to include a description providing more details about what you have shared.
A guiding example
As you consider images you’d like to share, take a look at images we used with participants in previous learning experiences. Perhaps one of these images resonates with you.
